Transport Order Request System - TORS
A simple way to organise your transport at a competitive price. "Best value transport" can be achieved by allowing a number of Transport providers who you select to quote for your transport requirements. The TORS system uses an immediate e-Tendering process, thereby achieving significant cost savings in the transport budget of any organisation for:
- Individual journey or multiple journeys
- Repeat journeys of any type
- Group Trips or excursion
- Group transport on a regular basis
- Contract bookings with variable frequencies over any period with exceptions
TORS - Transport Order Request System is a unique, powerful and innovative web based application from AKM linking customers' Transport Order requests with the Transport providers who can respond to them. It allows an e-tendering process. Transport providers are alerted of Transport requirements by monitoring new jobs on the TORS system or optionally by E-mail and/or SMS Text messaging
The system has a full Subsidised Transport management or transport budget control facility so that fare travel allocations or usage budgets can easily be monitored. These system transactions are fully recorded by an audit trail and comprehensive reporting facilities.
Who can use TORS - Transport Order Request System?
TORS can be used in one localised area or can be configured to work in several geographical areas and channel work to Transport providers who are most likely to be able to quote for those specific Transport requests. Also customers can choose a specific group of operators who will be exclusively assigned to do their work.
- Local Authorities who have to commission transport from a list of pre-qualified operators may use the same operators to save time, but then fail to demonstrate open competition.
- Social Services: need to move individuals under Emergency protection orders (EPO) to and from foster homes, residential placements, or transfers for the elderly. Social workers can make a call and have transport arranged at a competitive price.
- Education departments with special transport demands. Special needs transport can be provided economically by small vehicles, because:
- Economy is achieved by using them for remote areas. Travel times are minimised for disabled children. Responsive private hire vehicles or taxis may be able to offer better value. Scarce wheelchair accessible vehicles are used only when needed. Behaviour control may be improved when only transporting small groups.
- Local offices of Charitable organisations who have elderly or disabled passengers need transport for their individual members or group trips. Use of a Subsidised Transport Scheme using the TORS system with Private Hire operators or taxis alternatively provide a responsive and efficient solution to Transport demand management
